That means you can count on us whenever your child needs help.
Here’s what families can expect:
- An emergency department designed just for kids. Created with children and families in mind, we’ve made it easier and more comfortable for families to move through their visit.
- Highly skilled pediatric nurses and physicians. Pediatric nurses and board certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians, trauma, orthopedic, and neurosurgeons are onsite 24/7.
- Support from additional pediatric specialists. We have social workers, respiratory therapists, radiology technicians and other specialists who are specially trained to care for pediatric patients.
- Child Life Specialists. These team members help ease stress and anxiety for kids and their families during emergency visits.
- Easy access to expert pediatric follow up care. If your child needs to see a specialist, we can connect you directly with nationally recognized Riley Children’s care teams.
- Onsite care if higher level care is needed. Patients benefit from immediate access to specialists from every field of pediatric medicine and surgery. We have pediatric inpatient units, a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), and a cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU). Riley Hospital is also home to Indiana’s only American Burn Association-verified Burn Center dedicated to serving children.
- Trauma services. Indiana’s longest-standing Level I Pediatric Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons, with an in-house pediatric trauma team available 24/7. This means the highest level of care in a center specifically designed for children with traumatic injuries.
- Hospital-based psychiatric care. Indiana’s only emergency department with a Behavioral Health Access Center staffed by onsite child psychiatrists and a multidisciplinary psychiatric consultation liaison service that provides mental health assessments and unique treatment services for medically hospitalized patients.
