Parking
Parking Garages
Three handicap-accessible parking garages are located near Riley Hospital for Children. These include:
- Simon Family Tower Garage. Parents/guardians with children who are inpatient at Riley Hospital, Maternity Tower patients and support partners, and hospital visitors may park in the Simon Family Tower Garage, located on Riley Hospital Drive just south of 10th Street. This garage offers easy access to our Simon Family Tower entrance and main lobby, which is open 24/7. Validated discounted parking is available for parents/guardians of children who are inpatient at Riley Hospital and for Maternity Tower patients and support partners. Parking fees are posted at the garage.
- Riley Outpatient Center Garage. Patients and families with children who have outpatient appointments scheduled in the Riley Outpatient Center will find convenient parking in this garage. Located on Riley Hospital Drive next to the Riley Outpatient Center, it has wheelchair/handicap spaces available. Oversized and handicapped vans should consider the 8’2” clearance on the first floor and 7’6’’ clearance on the remaining floors. IUPUI parking rates apply. Validated discounted parking is available for outpatient families and patients on the day of the appointment.
- Wilson Street Garage. This garage is located north of the emergency department entrance at Riley Hospital. It has wheelchair/handicap spaces available. IUPUI parking rates apply. Validated parking is available for emergency department visitors if you've been directed to park in this garage by the parking attendant.
Important Garage Information
- Reserved Spaces. Garages have spaces marked RESERVED. Visitors parked in these spaces are subject to immediate towing.
- Payment Information. The Simon Family Tower Garage, Riley Outpatient Center Garage and Wilson Street Garage are fully automated. All parking fees will be accepted through Automated Pay Stations (APS). Cash, credit card and IUPUI issued validations can be used for payment. For any issues or questions, please call 317.274.4232.
- Using the Automated Payment System (APS). Take an entry ticket when entering the garage. Do not bend, damage or lose the ticket. When leaving the hospital, look for signs that point to APS machines for each garage. Insert the entry ticket into the APS machine. If you have a validation ticket, you will insert that ticket next. APS machines accept cash, credit cards and IUPUI parking validation cards. Pay the amount shown. The machine will validate and return your ticket. Use the ticket at the exit station to exit the garage.
- Payment at the Exit Terminals. In addition to paying at an APS station, payment can also be made at each exit terminal. Credit cards, debit cards and IUPUI parking validation cards are accepted at the exit terminals. Cash is not accepted at the exit terminals.
ATM machines are located in the Simon Family Tower lobby near the vending area, in the Simon Family Tower across from the red elevators, and in the Riley Outpatient Center near the gift shop.
Valet Parking
- Emergency department patients and parents may utilize the free valet parking conveniently located at the emergency department entrance at 1105 Wishard Boulevard. This service is available 24/7 for those visiting the emergency department.
- Maternity Tower patients and support partners, as well as parents/guardians of patients in the Maternity Tower NICU, may use the free valet parking located at the Maternity Tower entrance at 702 Barnhill Drive. This service is available 24/7 for up to two vehicles per patient. You may choose to self-park in the Simon Family Tower garage instead of using the valet.
- Other IU Health locations nearby offer daily valet parking for $10 for patients and $20 for visitors. Valet is provided Monday through Friday, from 7 am – 4:30 pm. Locations include:
- Indiana University Health University Hospital Main Entrance (University Blvd & North Street)
- IU Health Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center Entrance (Barnhill Drive & Michigan Street)
Parking Options for Vehicles Over 8 foot in Height
- Riley Outpatient Center Garage has 7 indoor ADA spaces on the first floor, which can accommodate oversized vehicles up to 8’2’’ in height. Remaining floors in the Riley Outpatient Center Garage can accommodate vehicles no taller than 7’6’’.
- Valet parking is available for these vehicles at the Maternity Tower Entrance at 702 Barnhill Drive.
Long-Term Patient Parking
Hospital patients and their families may purchase long-term visitor parking in surface lots or garages on a monthly basis. Please do not park in any space designated with a reserved sign.
Clergy Parking
Clergy or parish/congregational visitors may receive free parking while visiting Riley Hospital for Children when they follow these steps:
- Park in the Simon Family Tower Garage and bring the ticket into the hospital.
- Obtain a clergy validation ticket from one of the Information Desks. Sign your name and the name of your parish/congregation at the Welcome Desks. Show identification as a visitor from that parish/congregation. Acceptable forms of identification include a business card, pamphlet from church or clergy ID.
- Present the clergy validation ticket with the parking ticket to a garage attendant at the Simon Family Tower Garage at the time of departure.

Visitor Information
Visitor Hours
For the healing, comfort and safety of all patients, visiting hours are in place daily from 8 am to 9 pm.
- Family/visitor presence during regular visiting hours is limited to two people per patient for non-immediate family members
- Visitation in critical care spaces may look different
- Overhead announcements will be made as visiting hours come to an end at 9pm each day. Visitors will be asked to leave until visiting hours resume the next day.
- You may request after-hours visitation with approval from the nursing team. Identification stickers are required to remain in the hospital after hours.
Know Before You Go
Q: If I am sick, may I still visit a patient at Riley Children's Health?
A: You should not visit a patient if you are sick, especially if you have a sore throat, cold or fever. Please practice respiratory etiquette and consider visiting at another time if you are feeling ill.
Q: What is the current mask policy?
A: Masks are not required but will be available to those that choose to wear them.
Q: Is smoking allowed at Riley at IU Health?
A: Riley at IU Health is a smoke-free campus. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the grounds of Riley Hospital for Children or Indiana University Health.
Q: What is the alcohol and drug policy?
A: Alcohol and drugs are not permitted in our facilities.
Q: What is the firearm policy at Riley at IU Health?
A: Other than Indiana University Health security officers and on-duty law enforcement officers, no one may carry or have in their possession a weapon or firearm at any of our grounds or facilities. Law enforcement officers should check with IU Health security if they plan to carry a weapon while on our premises.

ProCare offers discounted rates to Riley Hospital patients, families, visitors and employees at leading hotels—with hotels to fit everyone’s needs. Hotels are located in and around downtown Indianapolis with easy access to Riley Hospital for Children.
There are three easy ways to book:
- In person. This personal service is available at the information desk in the Riley Outpatient Center.
- By phone. If you need to contact the hotels directly, ask for the “ProCare Rate” when making your reservation. We do all the work—just give us a call, tell us what you are looking for and we will take care of the rest. Call the ProCare Concierge at 317.974.2039 or 800.974.2039. A concierge is available Monday – Friday, 8 am – 7 pm.
- Online. Book your reservation by visiting ProCare online.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana consists of two locations with distinct functions to meet the varying needs of the families we serve. Visit us to learn how we can be your "home-away-from-home."
Patient Rooms
Patient rooms in nursing units have chair beds to accommodate parents and caregivers who stay the night. Phones are provided at bedside on most units, but do not receive incoming calls between 9 pm and 7 am. Pediatric Intensive Care Units have phones in ICU Parent Lounge areas. A telecommunications device (TTY/TDD) for the hearing impaired is also available for bedside use. Your child's nurse can arrange this service at your request. If an amplified phone is needed, please ask your child's nurse to order one.
TVs are provided free of charge in each patient room. VCRs and telecaption decoders for the hearing impaired are also available. Riley Hospital for Children has its own television programming on Channel 5-JWRTV. Your child's nurse or a Child Life specialist can help you reserve a VCR or decoder and provide information about the Channel 5 schedule.
Transportation
IU Health Shuttle Service
The IU Health shuttle service connects Riley Hospital for Children to additional IU Health facilities downtown, including IU Health Methodist Hospital. The shuttle service is free and open to the public as well as members of our healthcare team. Multiple shuttles run during peak hours and each shuttle can accommodate up to 30 riders, minimizing wait times and ensuring efficient service. Riders have the option to take the downtown route, which stops at six IU Health facilities, or the express route which stops at three locations.
The Downtown Route runs:
- Monday through Friday 6 am – 8 pm
- Saturday, 8 am – 5 pm
- No service on Sundays
The Express Route runs:
- Monday – Friday, 7 am – 6 pm
- No service Saturday or Sunday
Wagons
Wagons are available to transport small children or infants within the hospital. They are located in the lobbies of the Riley Hospital for Children Simon Family Tower and the Riley Outpatient Center. You may also request one through your child’s nursing unit. Bedding may also be requested through the nursing unit or a clean blue sheet may be obtained at the information desk if one has not already been provided.
Bus Schedules
City buses run daily from Riley Hospital for Children to downtown Indianapolis. Bus schedules are available at the Information Desk. Accessible transportation for persons with disabilities is listed.

Riley Hospital offers a variety of nutritious meal options to patients and guests at several locations on or near our campus.
Café 1924
Café 1924, located down the hall from the Maternity Tower Atrium, is the main cafeteria at Riley Hospital and offers a full selection of meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner or a late-night meal.

Full Service Deli, Soups, Pizza and Hot Entrees, 2:30 pm – 2:30 am
Red Wagon Café
A full service grab-and-go café, the Red Wagon Café offers hot entrees, specialty sandwiches, made-to-order salads and gourmet soups. The café also features a convenience store where you can find bags of fruits and veggies, milk, eggs and other food and beverages.
The Red Wagon Café is located in the main lobby of the Simon Family Tower.

The Coffee Wagon
The Coffee Wagon is located down the hall from the Maternity Tower Atrium. It features snacks, salads and sandwiches, and also proudly serves Starbucks signature drinks including espressos, lattes, Frappucinos and regularly brewed coffee.

Nature's Table
Nature’s Table offers a wide variety of healthy food choices, including wraps, salads, protein bowls, a full breakfast menu and items to please children.

Vending machines, including Farmer's Fridge, are located throughout the hospital.
Patient Meals
Your child’s meals are available through room service. We offer many options to meet each patient’s dietary requirements, which are set by a physician. To place an order, dial 49575 from your child’s hospital room or call 317.944.9575. You can place an order seven days a week, 6:30 am – 7:30 pm. Breakfast is served all day. Lunch and dinner items are served 11 am – 7:30 pm. Allow 45 minutes from the time you place an order for your child’s tray to arrive. If you have questions about meals, or you want to order ahead or place an order for more than one meal at a time, contact us at 317.944.9575.
Guests are welcome to dine with patients and may order guest trays at an additional charge. Guest trays may be ordered at the same time as patient trays or anytime during operating hours. Credit/debit payment can be taken at the bedside at the time of tray delivery. This option allows for parents and family members to remain at the patient’s bedside throughout the hospital stay.

There is a food court at the IUPUI Campus Center with several quick service restaurants. Ask for a list of these restaurants and their hours at the Information Desk.

Check Cashing
While your child is an inpatient, you can cash one check per day in the Admitting Office at Riley Hospital for Children, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm. There is a $25 personal/travelers check limit. When the Admitting Office is closed, the Emergency Admitting Office at Riley Hospital will cash your checks. Ask our Information Desk staff for information about area banks.
Safety Store
Our safety store sells a wide variety of products designed to protect children and promote safety. Stop by our store located in the Riley Outpatient Center or visit us online for more information.

We offer free, wireless Internet access throughout the hospital. To access the network, select the "IUH Public" option on your device and accept the terms of use.
