Our physicians see more than 300 new oncology patients and over 800 new hematology patients each year. Riley pediatric cancer teams manage more than 13,000 outpatient visits annually, including a comprehensive telehealth program offering virtual visits.
Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program
We use autologous and allogeneic transplants and CAR-T cell therapy to fight acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia, sickle cell disease, immunodeficiency, bone marrow failure and other non-malignant conditions. Learn more about our Stem Cell Transplant Program.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Program
The largest leukemia and lymphoma program of its kind in Indiana, Riley offers the latest and most innovative treatments, including CAR-T cell therapy, for newly diagnosed and relapsed childhood leukemia and lymphomas. Our highly trained physicians have diagnosed and treated more than 1,000 children in the past decade, with very high cure rates.
Solid Tumor Program
Our oncologists have extensive experience in diagnosing and treating all types of solid tumor malignancies. Riley patients have access to the latest therapies, including the leading-edge antibody therapy for neuroblastoma known as Hu3F8.
Riley at IU Health is the only hospital in Indiana offering Hu3F8, a novel treatment for solid tumors, and has treated patients from around the world.
Neuro-Oncology Program
Riley’s multidisciplinary retinoblastoma program is one of the only comprehensive programs of its kind in the Midwest. Focused on delivering comprehensive clinical care from diagnosis to long-term follow-up, our Neuro-Oncology Program provides supportive care to maximize quality of life for children and their caregivers. Collaborations with essential specialists help ensure complete care for patients with brain and spinal cord tumors.
Comprehensive Hematologic Programs
Riley hematologists annually treat nearly 3,000 children and adolescents with blood disorders.
Hemostasis and Thrombosis Program
We provide multidisciplinary care to pediatric patients with bleeding and clotting disorders, including heavy menstrual bleeding and vascular anomalies. Our team also partners with the Herzog Laboratory at IU School of Medicine, a leader in research for alternative forms of treatment for children with hemophilia.
Hemoglobinopathy Program
Riley has the largest pediatric sickle cell program in the state and the only stem cell transplant center for non-malignant transplants. Our program serves children with sickle cell disease and other hemoglobinopathies such as thalassemia.
Bone Marrow Failure Program
Our program includes an internationally known, NCI-funded research laboratory employing functional genomics and super-resolution imaging to understand the mechanistic origins of genomic instability in Fanconi anemia and other bone marrow failure/cancer predisposition syndromes.

Precision Genomics Program Customizes Therapies for Aggressive Disease
More than 290 pediatric patients have been evaluated through our Precision Genomics Program, and nearly a quarter of those patients are receiving recommended therapy.
- An innovative approach uses genetic testing to identify DNA, RNA and proteins in cancer cells that can be precisely targeted with different treatments.
- After testing is interpreted, we research therapeutic options and facilitate tumor board in collaboration with the treating physician.
