The Charis Center for Eating Disorders offers Indiana’s most comprehensive treatment for eating disorders in adolescents and adults. The center treats patients from across Indiana with conditions such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and other types of eating disorders.

Each patient at the Charis Center for Eating Disorders receives an individualized plan with small goals to improve health. The plan will address all barriers to health, such as overexercising or addiction. We help patients understand how to take the process slowly, taking small steps that lead to long-term success.

We carefully assess all patients by gathering a complete medical history and performing any necessary physical exams. When your child is first evaluated, he or she may speak to many professionals, including counselors and nutritionists, so we can best understand his or her needs and willingness to change behaviors.

Depending on your child's needs, he or she may receive one of three different levels of care. Outpatient care involves visiting the center for appointments with counselors, nutritionists and support groups. Intensive outpatient care may require your child to spend a few hours at the center every day to receive education and support. Patients with advanced eating disorders may need to stay at the hospital temporarily to improve their health and nutrition and undergo observation.

We offer comprehensive services including nutrition education and support groups designed to help individuals learn from each other. Patients have access to many types of therapy, including art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness training. All services are available within the center for convenient, focused care.

The Charis Center for Eating Disorders is a national leader in the treatment of eating disorders. Our expert doctors and healthcare professionals help your child find the support and care needed to resume healthy eating. The multidisciplinary team includes experienced physicians, dietitians, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, art therapists and family therapists.
