Benjamin Diedrich planned for plenty of golf and time with friends during the summer of 2024. Instead, a diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma meant countless hospital visits, new hobbies, and a care team that quickly became family.

Ben's nurse navigator, Audrey Leisinger, recalls the day the two brainstormed ideas for hobbies he could try as he maneuvered cancer treatments. Together, they landed on baking. Fortunately for the staff at IU North, Riley's downtown hospital, the infusion clinic, and the stem cell clinic, he enjoyed his new skills so much that he always arrived at his appointments with a delicious treat to share.

Though now in remission, Ben must still come to come to Riley for frequent appointments. For this optimistic patient and his parents, that means more time to share Ben's latest delicious dessert and uplifting conversations with the Riley team.

"We love the team," Gabi Diedrich, Ben's mom, said. "We kind of miss them when we don't see them."
