Kathryn M. Haider, MD

Dr. Kathryn M. Haider, MD is an associate professor of clinical ophthalmology and director of clinical research at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Wisconsin after applying for early acceptance while in high school. She then completed her Transitional Year in La Crosse, WI where she served as Chief Resident. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Saint Louis University and pediatric fellowship at Indiana University. She became the director of the retinopathy of prematurity service in 2010 and currently serves as co-director with Charline Boente, MD. In 2019, she championed the first Ocular Genetics/Inheritable Eye Disease clinic in the state. She is active with her national organization, American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, where she is chair of the Membership Committee as well as serving on the Selection Committee and Ocular Genetics Committee. Dr. Haider’s research interests included retinopathy of prematurity, amblyopia, cataracts, glaucoma and ocular genetics. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
