About Me
Dr. Bianca Maya, MD, has been practicing pediatrics since 2011. She joined Riley Children’s Health in August 2024 as a pediatrician. Dr. Maya received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a minor in Biochemistry, and a Master of Science degree in Molecular Immunology, Virology and Inflammation. She attended medical school at Saba University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Dr. Maya has lived in Indiana since 2014, and has served as a clinical associate professor at the IU School of Medicine since 2017, while also holding various roles at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Maya’s love for the health sciences began through her interactions with her own pediatrician, realizing that it would be a great job to have in the future. She always had an interest in all-things science, which encouraged her to pursue medical school. Her first rotation in medical school was pediatrics, where she felt she had found the right fit. The aspect that she loves most about being a pediatrician is that she gets to interact with so many different personalities and watch the children grow. She can always count on one of her patients to do or say something to make her laugh.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Maya can be found spending time with family and friends, including her two boys that keep her active by visiting parks, museums, splash pads, indoor play zones and playing sports. She also enjoys playing volleyball, soccer, swimming and walking her dog.
