About Me
Andrea Banet, PA-C, is an advanced practice provider specializing in the management of benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) bone and soft tissue tumors in children and adults. As a certified Physician Assistant within Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, she treats conditions including:
- Sarcoma
- Benign tumors
- Malignant tumors
- Metastatic cancers
Banet received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training degree from Indiana State University, and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Indiana University School of Medicine Indianapolis.
Having been in involved in sports growing up, Banet experienced her own personal orthopedic injuries. She continued her connection to orthopedics through her formal education and worked as an athletic trainer before becoming a certified Physician Assistant. Through her studies, she met with the IU Health Orthopedic Oncology team and was immediately drawn to the medical complexities and social aspects of the conditions treated. As a native Hoosier, Banet beginning her career as a Physician Assistant in Indiana was an easy decision.
When Banet sees a patient for the first time, she understands that the patient and family may have several questions. She explains the child’s diagnosis and helps them to better understand the next steps in their treatment plan. Banet treats each child as if they were her own family member, often addressing social stressors and providing guidance to family members as appropriate.
When not treating patients, Banet loves spending time with her family including her two young children. She enjoys participating in and watching sporting events, hiking, spending time outdoors and focusing on her health and fitness.
