Dr. Turrentine on medical mission trips: "Service above self"

Riley 100 |

Interest in global humanitarian work began in the late 90s for Dr. Mark Turrentine, cardiothoracic surgeon and division chief at Riley Children's Health. In 2007, he and a team went to Amman, Jordan. Now, he makes four or five trips each year to Jordan and Lebanon.

"I think to me it's maybe an expression of what I always envisioned medicine to be; service above self," Dr. Turrentine explains.
