About Me

Dr. William C. Goggins’ area of clinical practice is adult and pediatric kidney transplantation. He is the surgical director of the IU Health kidney transplant program. In 2018, Dr. Goggins performed his 2000th kidney transplant at IU Health and continues to perform hundreds of transplants each year. He is one of the most experienced kidney transplant surgeons in the country. Under Dr. Goggins’ leadership, the kidney transplant program continues to expand treatment options for patients, including those who require desensitization therapies, paired donation with non-compatible living donors, are HIV positive, are Hepatitis C positive, or have been considered ineligible at other transplant centers. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Goggins serves as the director of the IU Health Transplant and Immunobiology Laboratory.

He completed a clinical fellowship in transplantation at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He joined the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he is an associate professor of surgery, in 2003.

He is an editorial board member of transplant journals, including Clinical Transplantation and Transplant Immunology, and has been honored by the Indiana Donor Network and National Kidney Foundation of Indiana for his contributions to his field and community.
