Dr. Michele Tsai Owens is a pediatric cardiac psychologist with expertise in caring for patients with cardiovascular conditions. She provides evidence-based behavioral health assessments and targeted psychotherapy services for patients who are cared for by the Riley Children’s outpatient and inpatient cardiology teams. She also conducts research related to mental health screening in young people with heart conditions and preparing teens and young adults for taking on more responsibilities for managing their chronic medical conditions. She is passionate about supporting the resilience of young people with heart conditions and their families.

Dr. Tsai Owens earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Clinical Health Psychology, at the University of Kansas. She completed a predoctoral pediatric psychology/neuropsychology internship at the University of Minnesota Medical School and a postdoctoral medical psychology fellowship at Mayo Clinic. Prior to joining the Riley Heart Center, Dr. Tsai Owens was a pediatric psychologist with Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Riley Children’s.

When she is not caring for patients, she enjoys hiking with her family and dog, crocheting and traveling.
