Cory D. Showalter, MD, is a board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physician and has been with Riley Children’s Health since 2012. In addition to caring for patients in the emergency department, he leads access and outreach initiatives at Riley Children’s and serves as the Division Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he also teaches future physicians.

Growing up in a small Indiana town shaped Dr. Showalter’s commitment to making sure all children have access to skilled, compassionate care. In the emergency department, he treats every patient and family with kindness and respect, taking the time to understand what each child needs in order to provide the best possible care and treatment.

Education

Dr. Showalter received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Indiana University in Bloomington before obtaining his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Showalter completed his Pediatric Emergency Medicine Residency and Fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio.

Awards and Achievements

Under Dr. Showalter’s leadership, Riley Children’s emergency care has expanded to new locations in Carmel and Fishers and significantly grown its dedicated pediatric emergency staff. His work has helped improve access to high-quality emergency care for children across Indiana by strengthening transfers and advancing consistent, effective treatment across hospital locations.

Outside of Work

When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Showalter enjoys time with his family, his children’s sporting events, and the outdoors.
