For many patients, a trip the Fetal Center at Riley Hospital for Children comes with some stress. They are referred there due to their baby’s ultrasound revealing some concerns for doctors.
Amy Spenner is a fetal care coordinator and wanted to bring some joy to these appointments for families. She decided creating a heartbeat recording on a special device for these patients could allow them to focus on the positive moments of pregnancy.
Spenner is currently making these recordings for the patients who come in for a fetal echocardiogram. Her hope is that on the drive home, the patients and their support team can listen to it and focus on the good during what can sometimes be a long journey.
