What to Expect
Each Charis Center for Eating Disorders patient receives an individualized treatment plan. This plan will address any barriers to their health, such as overexercising or addiction. In addition, we help patients understand how to take steps that lead to long-term success.
We carefully assess all patients by gathering a complete medical history and performing any necessary physical exams.
When patients are first evaluated, they may speak to many professionals, including counselors and dietitians, so we can best understand their treatment needs.
Patients may receive one of three different levels of care depending on their needs.
- Outpatient care involves visiting the center for appointments with counselors, dietitians and support groups. Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) requires patients to spend a few hours at the center for group therapy and snack support three days per week.
- Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) requires patients to visit the center daily for group and individual therapy, medical and dietitian visits and meal support.
- Patients with advanced eating disorders may need to stay at the hospital temporarily to improve their health and nutrition and undergo observation.
