No need to wait for December for blessings of toys this year at Riley Hospital for Children. It will be Christmas in April when Riley takes delivery of bundles of new toys, courtesy of Children’s Hospital Association’s Spread Joy with Toys 2019 social media campaign.
That’s right – Riley is one of 15 children’s hospitals in the nation selected to receive Mattel and Fisher-Price toys through the campaign, which invited fans to vote on social media for their hospital to win quality toys.
Ann Hannan, director of the Riley Cheer Guild, which accepts and distributes new donated toys, had encouraged people to support Riley in the contest, noting that Mattel and Fisher-Price toys are popular with patients, families and team members for their quality, safety and developmental focus.
Melissa Sexton, Riley Child Life Zone supervisor, received word that the hospital had been named a contest winner earlier this month.
“We are thrilled to have been selected,” she said.
The toys will be shipped in April, in time to replenish the stock of thousands donated by families and organizations over the holidays.
