Morgan Campbell, Sertoma Scholarship Recipient
Morgan Campbell was named the recipient of the Sertoma Club of Broad Ripple Scholarship at Camp About Face on June 18, 2014. The scholarship was established by the club in memory of Mr. Hugh Kirtland, a Sertoma member who was responsible for the club's affiliation with the Cleft and Craniofacial Program at Riley at IU Health. The $1000 scholarship is awarded each year to an outstanding participant of the Camp About Face Leadership Academy and is eligible for renewal for three additional years.
Morgan is a graduate of Kankakee Valley High School where she received the school’s “Super Senior” award for her excellence in academics and her participation in extracurricular activities. Morgan has been active with fundraising for camp through the design and sale of craniofacial awareness apparel and by speaking about the impact of camp on her life with the Indiana Beta Club. She has also shared her experiences of growing up with a cleft lip and palate at a parent conference held at Riley Hospital on March 6, 2014.
The scholarship is based on the applicant's ability to provide "SERvice TO MAnkind", the mission of the Sertoma, an organization dedicated to community service to those in need. Camp About Face and Riley at IU Health congratulate Morgan and wish her success as she pursues her academic studies.
