Riley Hospital for Children Flu-related Visitor Restrictions in Place for NICU

Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health flu-related visitor restrictions have been lifted. However, because babies, especially those who are ill or premature, are at higher risk of serious complications if they get the flu, visitation restrictions are still in place for all Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) until further notice.

Cleft and Craniofacial Program Receives Funds, Volunteer Support from DEFENDER Direct

Blog Cleft and Craniofacial Program Receives Funds, Volunteer Support from DEFENDER Direct

The Cleft and Craniofacial Program at Riley at IU Health recently received $1000 and volunteer support from DEFENDER Direct and it’s employees as part of the company’s annual Service Challenge.

In it’s second year, Indianapolis-based DEFENDER Direct encourages its employees to develop teams, identify a deserving charity and conduct a half or full-day community service project directly benefitting that charity. Each team then submits a project description and video to the company’s Giving Council. An executive team identifies those teams whose charities will receive a monetary donation above and beyond the volunteer support already provided.

“We are so grateful for the volunteer support and assistance provided by DEFENDER Direct’s employees and humbled to receive a generous donation on top of that” said Doctor Roberto Flores, a craniofacial surgeon at Riley at IU Health. “Their commitment to the community and their desire is unparalleled which allows us to provide even more to those who need it most.”

Riley at IU Health’s Cleft and Craniofacial Clinic is one of the largest craniofacial programs in the United States. Through the team’s comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach we can successfully treat all aspects of cleft and craniofacial care.

“Our Service Challenge creates a sense of teamwork and togetherness within our company, while improving lives in our community at the same time,” said Marcia Barnes, president and CEO of DEFENDER Direct. “We were thrilled with how well this program was received by our team members in its first year, and that success was surpassed this year with more teams participating and more local organizations benefiting as a result. We look forward to continuing this initiative in the future.”

DEFENDER Direct is the leading dealer of home security and digital communication brands including ADT and DISH Network, and its own home heating, cooling and plumbing brands Williams Comfort Air and True Energy Smart Air.
